In 2006 I moved to Qatar and things are not what many people in North America would expect - it is not like how the Middle East is portrayed in the media. I'm also a fan of skepticism and science so wondered how this works here in Qatar. Since I'm here for a while I figured I'd use the time to get to know this country better and with this blog you can learn along with me. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - So what posts have been popular recently . . .

Ramadan Preparation
Ramadan 2013 is almost upon us. I will of course be fasting again this year but this time it's almost crept up upon me -- it will likely be tomorrow night! I have some things prepared but I will need to shop for some more things so that I’ve got planned meals ready. I've got dates, some nuts, and I've been weaning myself off the caffeine. A friend of mine plans to go to the gym every evening around 10 (after tanawih prayer) so I might join him. Beats stuffing yourself at a sohour buffet.
This is my fourth year of fasting, and like other years I will try to blog about my experiences during this Holy Month.
